Striker Bafetimbi Gomis is not too concerned about which other countries France are grouped with Friday’s Euro 2012 draw – he is just keen for Les Bleus to keep progressing at next summer’s tournament.The Lyon star is well aware that the football world still remembers France’s performance at the 2010 World Cup, when the team flew home in disgrace following the group stage after they boycotted a training session.
Laurent Blanc, who replaced the unpopular Raymond Domenech as coach, has begun to put Les Bleus back on the right track and Gomis wants that improvement to continue in Poland and the Ukraine.
He insists French football is about “passion, quality players and lots of good things”, not about what happened in South Africa.
