TOP FIVE PREMIER LEAGUE TRANSFER TARGETS

Cesc Fabregas (Arsenal)

Barcelona will continue their annual pursuit of their former prot̩g̩ and a lack of silverware with the Gunners means the Spaniard is ready to move Рalthough Arsene Wenger values his captain at a prohibitive $50 million.

Luka Modric (Tottenham)

Harry Redknapp has insisted that the Croatian playmaker is staying at White Hart Lane – despite Modric claiming otherwise. With Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City showing interest, a bidding war might raise the price high enough to tempt Spurs.

Carlos Tevez (Manchester City)

Tevez remains unhappy at Man City, despite leading the club to victory in the FA Cup last season. A move to either Italy or Spain appears likely with Inter Milan and Real Madrid interested – while City will be hoping to recoup $40 million.

Didier Drogba (Chelsea)

The arrival of Fernando Torres at Stamford Bridge has cast a doubt over Drogba’s future. Drogba has intimated he would like to return to Marseille but Tottenham are also interested in a $10 million deal.

Samir Nasri (Arsenal)

The French maestro is still stalling on signing a contract extension with Arsenal. Arsene Wenger could be forced to sell him – although he will hope that Nasri doesn’t choose to join main rivals Manchester United in a cut-rice deal for $10 million.

PLANET FOOTBALL 360 NEWS UPDATE.....

HOT PROPERTY NEYMAR WILL COST $41M

Chelsea have been informed that they will have to pay a massive $41 million to land teenage sensation Neymar from Brazilian club Santos.

Chelsea came close to signing the Brazil international last year before having a $32 million offer rejected – and the talented striker’s stock has continued to rise since then.

Neymar, 19, has scored 27 goals in 64 appearances for Santos as well as breaking into the senior Brazil team - making him one of the hottest properties in world football and attracting interest from the likes of Barcelona, Inter Milan and Manchester City.

However, Chelsea have remained the most enthusiastic suitors with Neymar recently saying that he would be open to a move to Stamford Bridge – although the Blues will now have to pay considerably more to tempt Santos to sell.

“Neymar is like Messi,” the player’s agent, Wagner Ribiero, told The Sun.

“Soon he will be the best in the world as he is a player like no other.

“He is just 19 but all the big clubs are following him – now he would not leave for less than $41 million”.

BENFICA DENY COENTRAO DEAL WITH REAL

Benfica have dismissed reports coming from Spain that a cut-price deal for defender, Fabio Coentrao, has already been agreed with Real Madrid.

Spanish sports paper, AS, had claimed that both clubs had reached an agreement over an initial transfer fee of E22 million to allow Coentrao to complete his dream move to Madrid.

The talented wing-back has always acknowledged that he would only ever leave Benfica for Madrid – where he would join other Portuguese compatriots Ronaldo, Ricardo Carvalho, Pepe and manager, Jose Mourinho.

However, the Portuguese club have issued a statement on their official website discarding these reports.

The statement reads: “Fabio Coentrao is a player of Sport Lisboa e Benfica. Unlike news that came out in some media, fuelled, as always, by ‘sources’ with no name and no face, there is no agreement with Real Madrid.”

Benfica are still prepared to do business – provided Real Madrid meet their valuation of the player.

“The player’s release clause is E30 million and the potential interested parties know that” said the club.

FRANCE NOT FIT ENOUGH....................
The France manager, Laurent Blanc, blamed a lack of fitness for their disappointing 1-1 draw with Belarus.

The result in Minsk does not badly damage French hopes of qualification for Euro 2012 – they are four points clear at the top of Group D. However, a laboured display against Belarus demonstrated that the problems that afflicted the side in South Africa have not been completely overcome.

Blanc said afterwards: “If you are not at the same physical level as your opponents, it is very hard to win games.” The Arsenal defender, Bacary Sagna, denied Blanc had lost his temper in the dressing room but added that it was a blow to their hopes of qualification.

Mario Gomez scored twice on the ground where he had endured his deepest embarrassment to give Germany a sixth straight win in Group A.

During Euro 2008, Gomez had somehow missed from a yard against Austria in the Ernst Happel Stadium in Vienna. Here he scored the first and the winner in stoppage time in a 2-1 victory. Italy overcame Estonia 3-0 in Modena to go five points clear at the top of Group C.

CHELSEA ‘MUST PAY €50m FOR PASTORE ‘

Chelsea will need to offer €50m if they are to sign Palermo’s young Argentine forward, Javier Pastore.

The Italian club, who sacked manager, Delio Rossi, after losing the Coppa Italia final to Internazionale, claimed Chelsea have offered in the region of €36m for the 21-year-old, who was voted Serie A’s player of the year in 2010.

However, Palermo’s president, Maurizio Zamparini, said that much more would be required to see Pastore leave. “Chelsea’s offer did not reach the minimum figure that we set for a player of his quality,” he said. “There are five or six clubs interested, including Manchester City, but only Chelsea have made an offer.”

There will be no bidding war surrounding Zlatan Ibrahimovic after the temperamental Swede insisted he would be staying with AC Milan. There had been speculation that Ibrahimovic, who moved to San Siro from Barcelona last year, would seek another move. However, in a statement he said: “We have a great project that we are working on in Milan and winning the Scudetto was a step in the right direction. I will definitely be here next season.”

PLANET FOOTBALL 360 NEWS UPDATE.....

KLOSE OFF TO ROME BUT PODOLSKI STAYS

Miroslav Klose is on the point of signing for Lazio but his German strike-partner, Lukas Podolski, has promised he will not be joining him in Rome.

Klose, who is out of contract after four years at Bayern Munich, said he would be happy to play in Italy because he needed regular first-team football – something he has not had at the Allianz Arena – in order to keep his international place. Klose was angered that a proposed deal that would have taken him to Lazio in January collapsed because Bayern wanted a substantial fee for a 33-year-old who had only six months left on his contract.

“Now I am in charge of my own destiny,” said Klose, who has never played outside Germany. “I still need to talk to the Lazio directors but I can tell the fans that, if I do come, I won’t let them down.”

However, Podolski has denied reports he will be moving from Cologne to Roma, saying: “I am staying in Cologne. The club is my team and it will be my team in the future – whether I am a player, coach or president.”
