BAYERN QUALIFIED FOR FINAL...

bayern munich Bayern Munich will play the final against Chelsea on May 19th in the stadium of the Allianz Arena. This semi final, who has been undecided until the end will be played on penalties, after a very balanced match. Everything had started badly for the Bavarians, led to the score 2-0 after two goals from Cristiano Ronaldo, with a penalty. Bayern's response will come from a penalty converted by Robben again before the half-hour of play The rest of the game was a succession of moments for both teams, but none found the flaw. In overtime, fatigue got the better of the 22 players, who no longer offered the same show that early game. Both goalies have shone during the penalty shoots on goal, with two stops each. But after a shot over Sergio Ramos, Bastian Schweinsteiger did not tremble when sending his own in the final.

FALCAO FIRES ATLETICO TOWARDS FINAL...

falcaoAtletico Madrid are on the verge of their second Europa League final in three seasons after a stunning 4-2 victory over Valencia in the first leg of their semi-final. Radamel Falcao scored twice at the Vicente Calderon and with Miranda and Adrian also finding the net, Atletico were 4-1 up before Ricardo Costa pulled one back in stoppage time to give Valencia some hope in the Mestalla. Falcao now has 10 goals in this season’s competition. In the other semi-final, Sporting Lisbon will take a narrow advantage to the San Mames after a 2-1 home win over Athletic Bilbao. Sporting were the better side at the Jose Alvalade but Bilbao took the lead through Jon Aurtenetxe only for Emiliano Insua and Diego Capel to give the home side a deserved advantage.

RONALDO WANTS TO BE WORLD’S BEST PAID PLAYER...

cristiano ronaldoCristiano Ronaldo has begun negotiations with Real Madrid that could see him become the highest-paid player in world football. Ronaldo’s current deal at the Bernabeu is not due to expire until 2015 but his agent, Jorge Mendes, has begun talks that would see it extended for a further three years. Ronaldo is believed to want at least the same salary as Lionel Messi, Wayne Rooney and Carlos Tevez – around €13m a year.
The Udinese striker, Antonio di Natale has said he is considering retirement from football after the death of his team-mate, Piermario Morosini. The 25-year-old collapsed and died on Saturday after suffering a heart attack while playing for Livorno at Pescara. He had been on loan from Udinese. Di Natale, who is 34, said there was far too much strain put on footballers and he was considering his future.

TERRY RETURNS FOR CHELSEA’S BIG WEEK...

john terryChelsea begin a potentially decisive week for the club with the news that John Terry will return to captain the side in their FA Cup semi-final against Tottenham at Wembley. Terry has been nursing a rib injury and Ashley Cole, who has missed Chelsea’s last two games with an ankle injury, is also ready to return. On Wednesday, Chelsea face Barcelona for a place in the European Cup final and then play Arsenal as Roberto di Matteo’s side attempt to finish fourth and requalify for the Champions League. Liverpool meet Everton in Saturday’s semi-final with their captain, Steven Gerrard, saying that this Merseyside derby is ‘more than just a semi-final’. Gerrard argued that if Liverpool could win the FA Cup to go with the League Cup won in February, it would count as a successful season even though they will not qualify for the Champions League for a third season in a row.

MALAGA WASTE CHANCE FOR THIRD PLACE...

malagaMalaga squandered the chance to move into third place in La Liga, losing 2-1 to an injury-time goal at Villarreal. Malaga, owned by a member of the Qatari royal family, took the lead through Santi Cazorla, although they lost their way in the last 10 minutes when keeper, Carlos Kameni was sent off and from the resulting penalty Marcos Senna drew Villarreal level. In the fourth minute of injury time at El Madrigal, Hernan Perez hit home Villarreal’s winner. The defeat left Malaga fourth, two points behind Valencia who thrashed Rayo Vallecano 4-1 on Wednesday. Real Madrid are still on course to win La Liga after a hat-trick from Cristiano Ronaldo gave them a 4-1 win over Atletico in the Madrid derby.

LIVERPOOL DOWN TO THEIR THIRD CHOICE KEEPER...

kenny dalglishLiverpool will go into their FA Cup semi-final with Everton employing their third-choice goalkeeper, Brad Pitt. Kenny Dalglish’s side knew they would be without Pepe Reina, who was suspended after being sent off at Newcastle two weeks ago. However, Alexander Doni, his deputy, was also sent off in Liverpool’s dramatic 3-2 victory over Blackburn. The Italian keeper was dismissed for bringing down Junior Hoilett, forcing Jones to come on. The keeper saved Yakubu’s penalty and might have been dismissed himself when bringing down Yakubu in the second half, leaving Liverpool with no recognised goalkeeper for the game at Wembley. The referee only awarded a yellow card and although Yakubu scored from the penalty spot to draw the game level at 2-2, Andy Carroll scored the winner in stoppage time to push Blackburn into the relegation places.

PLANETFOOTBALL360 NEWS UPDATE!!!

BAYERN MUST WIN OR LOSE THE TITLE...

bayern munichBayern Munich can ‘kiss the title goodbye’ if they lose at Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday, the club’s chief executive, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said. In the biggest game in the Bundesliga for years Bayern, who are chasing a treble of the European Cup, the German title and the German Cup, go to the Westfalenstadion three points behind the champions. Should Bayern win, they will go above Dortmund on goal difference. However, Jurgen Klopp’s side are unbeaten in 23 games and if they can merely draw with Bayern, they will be very close to retaining their title. The match has attracted enormous interest. The Westfalenstadion holds 80,000 spectators and Dortmund have had 450,000 requests for tickets for a match that will be broadcast to 200 countries.

CHELSEA STRUGGLE TO OVERCOME 10-MAN BENFICA...

benfica fan BRUNO 9Chelsea overcame the ten men of Benfica to win through to a Champions League semi-final against Barcelona. The European champions will be strong favourites as Chelsea have only ever won one of their five previous European Cup semi-finals. This time, Chelsea, who had won the first leg in Lisbon 1-0, won 2-1 at Stamford Bridge, although it was not as straightforward as the scoreline suggests. Chelsea went ahead through a Frank Lampard penalty and when Benfica’s captain, Maxi Pereira, was dismissed for a second bookable offence, their task looked very simple. However, Benfica fought back to equalise from a corner through Javi Garcia and with five minutes left Jorge Jesus’ side knew that another goal would see them through to the semi-finals. However, as they pushed forward, Chelsea counter-attacked and scored the winner through Raul Meireles.

ROBBEN TO EXTEND CONTRACT AT MUNICH...

arjen robbenArjen Robben is close to extending his contract at Bayern Munich. The Dutch star had been unhappy at the club after he was dropped for three successive matches amid media reports his team-mates were unhappy with his attitude. The 28-year-old has, however, made a stunning comeback that culminated in his scoring the winner at Nuremberg that took Bayern to within three points of the Bundesliga champions, Borussia Dortmund. His manager, Jupp Heynckes, said that he now expected Robben to extend a contract due to expire in 2013.
Bayern should have no difficulty in progressing to the Champions League semi-finals. Marseilles arrived in the city after a flight delay of six hours with their manager, Didier Deschamps, admitting their chances of overturning a two-goal first leg deficit were ‘minimal’. Marseilles have lost eight of their last nine games. Bayern have won their last seven.

GUARDIOLA NOT INTERESTED BY CHELSEA JOB...

pep guardiolaDespite being offered a £100million transfer budget, Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola is not interested in becoming the next Chelsea manager.

Blues owner Roman Abramovich is reportedly ready to let the Spaniard name his own salary to come to Stamford Bridge – but all advances have been turned away by the manager’s representatives.

Guardiola remains Abramovich’s first choice to take over in the summer and he is yet to commit his future by signing a new contract at the Nou Camp.

However, it appears he will not be tempted to experience the Premier League – even with an offer of doubling his current wages.

Chelsea’s alternatives to replace Andres Villas-Boas as permanent manager include France national boss Laurent Blanc and former player Didier Deschamps.
