LIVERPOOL DOWN TO THEIR THIRD CHOICE KEEPER...
Liverpool will go into their FA Cup semi-final with Everton employing their third-choice goalkeeper, Brad Pitt. Kenny Dalglish’s side knew they would be without Pepe Reina, who was suspended after being sent off at Newcastle two weeks ago. However, Alexander Doni, his deputy, was also sent off in Liverpool’s dramatic 3-2 victory over Blackburn. The Italian keeper was dismissed for bringing down Junior Hoilett, forcing Jones to come on. The keeper saved Yakubu’s penalty and might have been dismissed himself when bringing down Yakubu in the second half, leaving Liverpool with no recognised goalkeeper for the game at Wembley. The referee only awarded a yellow card and although Yakubu scored from the penalty spot to draw the game level at 2-2, Andy Carroll scored the winner in stoppage time to push Blackburn into the relegation places.
