Johan Cruyff has won the latest round in his bitter battle with Louis van Gaal at Ajax. Cruyff, who is a director of the Amsterdam club, obtained a court ruling that Van Gaal, who managed the club to the European Cup in 1995, cannot join him on the board. The court ruled that Cruyff, who has been a fierce critic of Van Gaal, had been absent when the proposal was made. This is just the latest instalment of a disastrous season for the Dutch champions that saw them eliminated from the Champions League on goal difference after Lyon’s 7-1 win in Zagreb while their promising midfielder, Ouasim Buoy, opted to join Juventus in the transfer window. In addition, the Eredivisie’s highest paid player, Mounir el Hamadoui, has said he will not play for the club again.
