Lloris signing brings more problems for Villas Boas...

avb
A new campaign can be a testing time for any manager, especially a new manager who replaces a man with a huge reputation. Andre Villas Boas has found it hard to find his feet at Tottenham and with a fan base that expects big things from the club, the Portuguese has little time to settle into his role. Without impressive showings in his first three games in charge, the former Chelsea manager is already under pressure and feeling the heat.

The Tottenham manager has brought Hugo Lloris, the France captain, to White Hart Lane for a record deal of £12m for a goalkeeper. However, tension has already surfaced as Lloris has expressed discontent at not being the no.1 goalkeeper for his new side. With Brad Friedel turning in some impressive performances, it would be unfair to drop the American but with the price tag and pedigree the Frenchman brings to the club, one must question why Villas Boas has paid so much for the new man if he is unwilling to use him. Lloris has been part of the French Ligue 1 team of the year 3 times out of 4 seasons and is regarded as one of the best keepers in Europe. There is no doubt that the new recruit has reason to be angry but the manager has been unable to quell tensions. As the league continues to move into the winter, Villas Boas will have to show more impressive leadership and tactical noose as he aims to satisfy a fan base which expects.
