| HANNOVER END BAYERN’S UNBEATEN SEQUENCE .... |
Bayern Munich’s unbeaten eight-match Bundesliga run ended on Sunday with a 2-1 defeat at Hannover.
Mohammed Abdellaoue’s penalty and Christian Pander’s deflected shot were the first league goals conceded by the leaders since August 7.
David Alaba set up a tense finish with a late reply, but Bayern never really recovered from Jerome Boateng’s 28th minute red card, even though Hannover also had a player dismissed when Steve Cherundolo was sent off after 63 minutes.
Hannover joined third-placed Schalke on 18 points, after Jefferson Farfan earned Schalke a 1-0 success at Bayer Leverkusen.
In Holland, meanwhile, AZ are four points ahead of PSV and Twente at the top of the Eredivisie after a 1-0 home win over Roda, who lost to a Rasmus Elm goal. PSV and Twente both drew 1-1, PSV at Vitesse and Twente at Groningen.
