CAN JI-SUNG PARK STOP LIONEL MESSI ?
Manchester United face the daunting challenge of playing Barcelona in the Champions League Final on May 28th.
While critics claim that United have been average this season, Barcelona have been hailed as the greatest team in the history of football – and, they also have the world’s best player in Lionel Messi.
If United are to succeed where they failed in the 2009 final, they will have to find a way of stopping the brilliant Argentinean – and the surprise solution is Ji-Sung Park.
The midfielder is United’s unsung hero - renowned for his exceptional work rate and big game mentality. As Patrice Evra notes, “He’s one of the most important players in the team because he never stops running, he can run all day”.
Park’s endless energy allows him defensive discipline and he will be given the role of tirelessly tracking Messi to prevent the playmaker from having too much time and space on the ball.
Another aspect of Park’s game is his attacking thrust and he has recently risen to the occasion again with important goals against Arsenal and Chelsea.
At Wembley, it could be the quiet Korean who manages to silence the world’s most talked about player.
