TREZEGUET MOVES TO ABU DHABI

France hero David Trezeguet has ended his unhappy spell in Spain by joining United Arab Emirates side Baniyas.

The 33-year-old, scorer of the golden goal that won Les Bleus the European Championship in 2000, turned down a transfer to Scottish club Glasgow Celtic in preference for a lucrative switch to Abu Dhabi.

The forward, who scored 34 goals in 71 games for Les Bleus before retiring from international football in 2008, was allowed to leave Spanish side Hercules after their relegation from the Primera Liga last season.

Trezeguet, also a member of France’s 1998 World Cup-winning squad, had his best club years with Monaco and Juventus, and was the highest scoring foreign player to appear for Juve with 171 goals in 318 games between 2000 and 2010.
