| STEVEN GERRARD IS NOT LIVERPOOL’S SAVIOUR |
Steven Gerrard is ready to return from a six-month lay-off through injury although he may not alone be the answer to Liverpool’s stumbling form.Gerrard has not played since the 3-1 victory over Manchester United in March and has undergone a groin operation.
He is due to return to the Liverpool squad for the League Cup fixture against Brighton on Wednesday.
However, his manager, Kenny Dalglish said that his return will not necessarily mean an uplift in the club’s form.
Liverpool have lost their last two matches and Gerrard’s form last season was the poorest since he made his first-team debut at Anfield in 1998.
Gerrard is 31 and no longer quite the footballer he was. There was a time when he could have inspired Liverpool on his own but Dalglish has warned he needs more support from his team-mates.
